Media and Literacy #9
This advertisement was created by Avis rental company who hires psychologists to produce adds for them that are eye popping and appealing to consumers. This advertisement has a shiny silver car on it with a red background behind it. The red background makes the add pop and the color catches your eye. The new silver car makes you wish that you owned a car like that, so subconsciously you think that this is a good deal because you can rent it and that would be cheaper! Also, the name of the company is in tiny letters up in the left hand corner. In the middle of the add in BIG letters it says, "Save $30". This also makes you think that you are getting a good deal. This advertisement really would only apply to those who are in need of a car, or need a way to get around for a short time. I see this message as a waste of space. It is well done and very eye attractive, but I know that it is just to make money and if someone really wanted to rent a car they wouldn't be able to get the "good deal" that is put on by this article. People who read this article could understand it differently than me because then could be in need for a car and think that it is a good deal. This advertisement also appeals to those who have urban lifestyles. I believe this message was made by a big cooperation who owns Avis Rental to bring in more consumers to their product to make MONEY.
Media and Literacy #8
This article was made by Fox News to report the Lakers vs. Nuggets game, where the Lakers won 104-97. The Lakers trailed all game until they took over in the fourth quarter. This article attracts attention by starting out saying how the Lakers almost held Anthoney to a single digit game and they would have been the first team in three years to do this. This article mostly appeals only to people interested in basketball. Also if you are a hardcore Nuggets fan you could be mad because the article is mostly about the Lakers winning three in a row. This message is being sent to give readers who missed the game information about who won and who scored points.
